Description

Unlike most other games, Path of Exile has no primary currency like gold. Instead, players use orbs to create or alter items.

It’s easy to waste these currencies if you don’t know what you’re doing. This poe currency guide will help you avoid those mistakes. The most common currency is the Scroll of Wisdom, used to identify items.

Eternal Orbs

Eternal Orbs are the previous king of currencies in Path of Exile and they're still one of the most valuable. They allow you to reroll a rare item into another rare item with a random affix. They can be acquired through monster drops, vendor recipes, and slaying rare monsters and unlocking strongboxes.

Orb of Chance

This currency allows you to chance a magical or rare item into a unique item. These are extremely expensive and rare, most players will never see them as a drop, but if you do it's a very nice piece of gear to have.

These are the primary trade currency in the player economy and they can be used to obtain many different items. It's best to save them for end game gear and map crafting.

Exalted Orbs

Exalted Orbs are one of the most valuable currencies in Path of Exile, as they can add a high-value random affix to any rare item that does not have an open affix slot. They are primarily used to craft powerful end game items and can also be exchanged for other valuable equipment through player trading.

This currency is often found dropped by slain monsters, chests and destructible containers, as well as Arcanist’s Strongboxes. It is best saved for meta-crafting and gear enhancing. It can be used to corrupt the Atlas map progression, farm high-tier maps for high-level affixes and rescue rare items with good mods that would otherwise be unobtainable. It can be also exchanged for other expensive currencies at vendors. But players should always keep in mind that vendor prices are a baseline and can change.

Chaos Orbs

The Orb of Chaos is an extremely useful currency item that can improve a rare item to a higher quality. It also guarantees a Veiled Modifier when used on an item. This is a very valuable item for players that do end-game crafting.

You can obtain this by selling a full set of rare gear (warrior/shield, two rings, amulet, gloves, body armor and helm) to a vendor. This is a good way to get some extra money and upgrade your gear quickly.

It is important to remember that unless you are a top-tier player, it is not a good idea to use these items on your gear. This is because the chances of getting a bad Implicit are high and it is not worth the risk.

Regal Orbs

Regal Orbs are obtained by killing any Queen or King unique monster and can be traded in exchange for other currency items. They can also be bought from vendors, and they are the best way to increase the quality of an item.

Regal orbs can re-roll the modifiers on a magic item to a rare one, retaining all of its affixes while adding a new one. They can also upgrade a magic item to a rare, converting it into a yellow item with at least two affixes and three prefixes.

Orbs of Alteration, Orbs of Augmentation and Regal Orbs are known as functional currencies, as they re-roll all of the modifiers on an item. These currencies can also be used to craft Flasks and other more niche items.

Vaal Implicits

The most powerful currency in the game, Vaal Orbs are used to corrupt items. Corrupting an item can modify it in many ways, including changing socket colors to white or adding a special Vaal Implicit. It can also change the level of a gem, increase its quality, or turn it into a rare with random affixes. It can also be used on a Strongbox to corrupt the items inside.

The corruption effect prevents almost Poe currency for sale currency from being applied to the item, making it virtually impossible to break (known as "bricked") after using a Vaal Orb. As such, they are rarely used on gear during the early game. They are mostly used on endgame items to try to obtain these special implicits. They can be traded on the Odealo marketplace for other items and currencies.
